On Exhibit
Exhibits change every ten to twelve weeks and range from jewelry and hollowware in precious metals to sculpture and architectural ironwork. Approximately two-thirds of the Museum’s exhibitions are organized in-house; the others are touring, rented exhibits or borrowed collections from other institutions and/or individuals.

Different Tempers: Jewelry & Blacksmithing
February 5 - March 28, 2010
While jewelry and blacksmithing are both grounded in metal, there is a curious gulf between the two fields. Just as George Bernard Shaw quipped that England and America “are two countries separated by the same language,” jewelers and blacksmiths remain foreign cousins in spite of their shared medium. Different Tempers explores these two realms of metalsmithing, highlighting their distinct properties as well as their commonalities.
Curated by Suzanne Ramljak, editor of Metalsmith magazine, this exhibition features the work of fourteen prominent and emerging artists, revealing the engaging range of metal work emerging from both the jeweler’s bench and the blacksmith’s forge.

Tributaries VIII: Jessica Calderwood
February 12 - March 28, 2010
Jessica Calderwood addresses ideas of consumption and personal
obsession with irony, humor, and color. In her most recent body of work
she merges traditional metalsmithing processes, such as enameling,
raising and die forming, with contemporary imagery.
