Feb. 9-10, 2013
This class is designed to give students a basic knowledge of the tools and techniques used
to produce bronze and aluminum castings from molten metal poured into sand molds.
The workshop will consist of lecture, demonstration and hands-on-activities.
Each student will make at least two molds and pour one casting in aluminum.
Students may choose simple patterns supplied in class, but are highly encouraged to bring s
omething of their own design. Size and weight of casting is limited and design considerations
are important, so please consult with Metal Museum foundry staff or Bob Rogers at
bobr58@bellsouth.net or 901.278.7826 regarding personal castings.
Students must provide their own safety glasses, hearing protection and gloves.
