The Metal Museum has several full-time artists on staff, as well as artists-in-residence living and working on site. Artists complete large-scale commissions for the Museum, as well as private commissions and artwork for exhibition.
Jacob Brown
Jacob brown is an artist and metalworker based out of California. He
recently graduated with a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of
Chicago. Mr. Brown is currently the Metalsmith intern here at The
Museum. Working mostly in steel, his art has often been described as a
humanitarian and optimistic statement on contemporary events and
culture. Craft and material are not simply a means to and end for Mr.
Brown but an intricate part of the message. He loves to work hard and
go fishing (hmmm - sounds like Wally).

Mary Catherine Floyd
Mary Catherine Floyd has come to the Museum by way of her hometown, Raleigh, NC and Bucyrus, Missouri. It was Mary Catherine's time in Missouri under the direction of Charlie and Marian McKinney that introduced her to metalworking and the Metals Museum community. Prior to working for the McKinneys, she completed a BFA at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, concentrating in fibers arts. Mary Catherine's focus as a resident artist is the marriage of her knowledge and personal experiences in metal and fiber arts. Click here to see more of Mary Catherine's work.

Leila Hamdan
Leila’s awareness lies in the physical connection with materials,
be it raw copper, old books, or steel artifacts. Her studies of interest include local birds, dreams,
memory, ancient and American History, German ironwork, and the preservation of craft.
Jeannie Tomlinson Saltmarsh is a Memphis native. As the daughter of an architect, her interest and love of the arts began at an early age. A University of Memphis graduate, she also attended the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, as well as courses in blacksmithing, welding and metal casting. She discovered the Metal Museum and like most desired to spend more time there. With hard work and determination, that desire is now a reality in the Artist in Residence Program. She has experience in both the smithy and the foundry and has plans to grow, create and play in both. Click here to see more of Jeannie's work.
