F.I.R.E. 2019 Financial Assistance

The Metal Museum offers opportunities to help students and metalsmiths cover the cost of conference fees. This year, the Museum is pleased to offer Studio Assistant positions and the Nathan Goodson Scholarship.

Studio Assistantship

Studio Assistants help with the Museum's Foundry Operations Manager with conference preparation and execution, assist guest demonstrator(s) with workshop needs, and assist Education Department staff members with daily conference operations and communications. In exchange, applicants receive waived registration fees, free onsite camping, all conference provided meals, and are encouraged to make their own molds during slow work times. All material costs are the responsibility of the applicant.

Nathan Goodson Scholarship

The Nathan Goodson Scholarship offers current university students or emerging artists* the opportunity to take part in the 2019 Foundry Invitational & River Exhibition (F.I.R.E.). To be qualified, the applicant must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program or have graduated within the past two years from an undergraduate or graduate degree program. The Nathan Goodson Scholarship covers the registration cost of the general conference and an allowance of $50 towards material costs. Any material fees over $50 must be paid by recipient.

*Applicants must have experience or interest in metal casting.
