GOLD TOURS AT THE METAL MUSEUM

The Metal Museum has tour options for small groups of up to 6 people. The 18Karat, 22Karat and 24Karat Gold Tours are designed to offer a richer museum experience with the opportunity to learn about the history, artwork, and programming at the Museum. Gold Tours include a guided 20-minute walkthrough of the Sculpture Garden with discussions about the Museum's history and artworks currently on display. Each tour is followed by a hands-on activity.
Gold Tours can be scheduled on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11am to 3pm. These small tours must be scheduled a minimum of three days in advance.

HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES

COPPER BRACELETS

Visitors will use hammers and stamps to add names, symbols or patterns to a piece of copper, which will be formed to fit the visitor's wrist.

$10 per person

CHASING REPOUSSÉ COPPER TILES

Chasing repoussé is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped to create a design in low relief. Participants will make their own low relief, 2-D drawings in copper using a stylus tool to create patterns and textures on metal.

$10 per person

Hands-on activities may be scheduled without a guided tour, in which case general admission is included in the cost of the activity. There is a 10-person minimum to schedule a hands-on activity.

ART TILE WORKSHOPS

Each participant draws a design in a pre-made sand mold, called a scratch block, using a stylus tool. Molten metal is then poured into the molds. When the metal has cooled participants have a custom 4" x 4" art tile. A staff member is available to answer questions and provide assistance during this activity. Guests will have the option to pick up their tiles that day or have them shipped for an additional fee.

$45 per person

An art tile workshop is a staff-led, immersive activity that may be scheduled without a guided tour. There is a 10-person minimum to schedule an art tile workshop. Art tile workshops work well for large groups or as team-building exercises for corporate visitors.
