Enjoy free admission to the museum, explore exhibitions and the Museum's permanent collection, experience live entertainment, hands-on activities, and metalsmithing demonstrations. Members are invited to an exclusive, hands-on experience at the Metal Museum featuring guided making activities such as forging in the Smithy, pouring in the Foundry, and aluminum embossing in the Library. This special event offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Museum’s creative processes while giving participants the chance to make their own work alongside experienced metalsmiths.

Whet Thursday returns with “Memphis in May on the Bluff,” an evening of hands-on making, live music, and local food at the Metal Museum.​ Guests can watch demonstrations in the Smithy and Foundry and create embossed bookmarks in the Learning Space.​ Enjoy live music by Corey Lu and daVillage, performing a tribute to Memphis music with soulful R&B and soft rock influences. Hogg Wild BBQ will be on site serving a limited menu of smoked favorites, and The Tipsy Tumbler will provide bar service throughout the evening.

Whet Thursday continues with “Beats on the Bluff,” an evening of live demonstrations, music, and local food at the Metal Museum. Guests can experience demonstrations in the Smithy and Foundry and create stamped aluminum rings in the Learning Space. The night features sets from WYXR DJs Rhinestone and South Memphis Jeff, joined by Peabody Rooftop DJ A.D., keeping the energy high across the grounds. PokChas will be on site with their full menu, and The Tipsy Tumbler will provide bar service throughout the evening.

Close out the Whet Thursday season with Whale Watch on the Bluff! Guests can enjoy demonstrations in the Smithy and Foundry, create beaded Whale Watch keychains in the Learning Space, and try their luck at “catching a whale” with interactive activities on the grounds. As the sun begins to set, keep an eye on the Mississippi River—the whales are expected to swim by just before dusk. Live music will be provided by The Late Greats, a Memphis string band playing an eclectic mix of bluegrass, folk, country, and more. Flipside Asia will be on site with their menu of favorites, and The Tipsy Tumbler will provide bar service throughout the evening.
