Get ready for the Metal Museum's

BIGGEST EVENT OF THE YEAR!

Every year, over 100 metalsmiths from across the country come to Memphis to make repairs on metal objects brought in by the community, all to raise funds for the Museum. This October, bring your metal items to the Metal Museum and have them restored to their former glory. All proceeds help support annual programming such as educational initiatives, new exhibitions, and artist residency programs.

Become a volunteer!

The Metal Museum’s annual fundraiser brings metalsmiths of all skill levels from across the country together to volunteer their skills and share their love of the craft.

Repair Days offers you the unique experience of networking with artists across disciplines to exchange ideas and learn from one another while supporting museum programs. This year’s Master Metalsmith, artist and enameler Sarah Perkins, will be on-site throughout Repair Days to connect with metalsmiths and talk about her work. On Saturday, the Museum also welcomes the Memphis community to participate in the fun with the Family Fun Day, and iron pour, and a fine art auction. Become a Repair Days 2019 volunteer and tap into the vast resources of the Metal Museum and metals community.

Learn how you can support Repair Days 2019!

There are many ways to help make Repair Days 2019 our most successful fundraiser yet.

The Metal Museum relies on the support of our Corporate Sponsors and Friends of Repair Days to ensure that every dollar raised through repairs and the auction goes directly to Museum programming throughout the year. Your contributions help us feed nearly 200 volunteers during the weekend, provide tools and materials, and tent volunteer workspaces. Consider becoming a Corporate Sponsor or Friend of Repair Days today!

Repair Days is...

RESTORATION

In the course of 4 days, volunteers restore as many as 350 items to their former glory - everything from rusted garden furniture to broken jewelry to warped heirloom silver - all to raise funds for Museum programs. At Repair Days we’ve seen it all - and repaired it all.

EDUCATION

The Museum trains and teaches aspiring and established metalsmiths throughout the year and Repair Days is no exception. Artists and volunteers are able to train with the featured artist and attend numerous demonstrations and gallery talks throughout the weekend, making Repair Days a popular destination for metals professors and their students!

FINE ART

Repair Days celebrates the opening of the annual Master Metalsmith exhibition, which recognizes a metalsmith who has made a significant contribution to the field - as an artist, educator and innovator. Visitors and volunteers are able to interact with and learn from the featured artist throughout the weekend.

FAMILY FUN

There’s nothing like watching blacksmiths move steel as easily as clay or watching a foundry crew melt down and pour over 2,000 pounds of iron. In the Repair Days Family Fun Tent, aspiring metalsmiths of all ages and skill levels can try their hand at various processes.

COMMUNITY

The Metal Museum serves as a gathering place for the metalsmithing community - with Repair Days serving as a family reunion of sorts. Artists and volunteers reconnect with old friends and make new ones while emerging and established artists alike network and exchange ideas, learn from one another, and find new inspiration.

FUNDRAISING

The highlight of the weekend can be found at the Saturday night Dinner + Art Auction. With over 100 one-of-a-kind objects donated by artists from across the country, there is something for everyone. Proceeds from the Auction benefit Museum programming throughout the year.
