Plan your wedding vows to coincide with the sun setting over the river, then dance the night away surrounded by sculpture and 100 year-old trees. In addition to the river view, our gazebo, constructed of historic castings, may be used as a focal point for your ceremony.

Whether you're planning a retreat or a holiday party, the Metal Museum has a venue space to suit your needs. The first floor of the Library building can be rented for small group meetings, while our tented space can be rented for larger fundraisers, parties, and retreats.

Is there indoor space available?

The grounds rental does not include access to any indoor space. Guests are also not permitted to enter the Museum buildings. A 40’ x 105’ paved terrace along the bluff may be tented and comfortably seats up to 300 guests, and all outdoor areas may be tented or utilized to accommodate up to 800 guests.

How many hours does the rental fee include, and how long before the event will I have access to the grounds?

Evening rentals include exclusive use of the grounds from 5pm to midnight, and access to the grounds for event setup beginning at 11 am the day of the event. Items may not be dropped off prior to 11am on the day-of. All vendors and guests must vacate the grounds before midnight.

How many people can the grounds accommodate?

The paved terrace and the largest grassy area (commonly used for wedding ceremonies) can accommodate approximately 250-300 seated guests. The entire grounds can be utilized to accommodate up to 800 guests.

Events with more than 250 guests will require additional staffing at $250 per staff member.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations may be made up to 91 days from the event date. Cancellations made after the Rental Fee has been paid will not be refunded.

What is your policy on serving alcohol?

You may provide your own alcohol or have your caterer provide it. Either way, it must be served by an individual with a valid server's permit issued by the TN Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

Are there any noise restrictions?

No, there are no noise restrictions for live music or DJs. However, all vendors must vacate the grounds by midnight, including sound and light vendors.

What if it rains on the day of my event?

In the event of Inclement Weather, the Event may be rescheduled for a later date or the Renter may request a refund, in which case all but fifty dollars ($50) of the Rental Fee will be refunded. Inclement Weather is defined as severe thunderstorms, flooding, snow, sleet, hail and/or tornadoes as defined by the National Weather Service. Rain alone is not considered Inclement Weather. There is no indoor space in the event of rain and a rain date cannot be reserved without doubling the Rental Fee.

How do I reserve a date?

To reserve a date, you must sign the rental agreement, pay half of the rental fee as a deposit, and agree to keep your card information on file. The deposit is nonrefundable and nontransferable. The remaining balance of the rental fee is due 90 days before the event, and the clean-up deposit is due 10 days before your event.

Do you allow caterers or vendors who are not on the approved list?

Catering services can only be provided by caterers who are on the Metal Museum Exclusive Vendor List. Mahaffey Tents & Events is the only rentals vendor allowed on the grounds. All vendors on the approved list comply with all rules and regulations for the Metal Museum. The contact info for Mahaffey Tents & Eventscan be found here.

Does the Museum provide planning services?

The Museum does not provide planning, set-up, or teardown services. Although not required, it is recommended all events consider hiring an event planner or day-of coordinator to assist with set-up/teardown, staffing, catering, and rental equipment.

Rental rates include a Metal Museum staff member to remain on-site for each event to assist with maintaining the integrity of the Museum, Sculpture Garden and artwork. A security guard will also ensure that the event is safe and secure.

Who is responsible for cleaning the facility?

The renter is responsible for leaving the grounds as they found them. The Museum must be left in a clean and orderly manner for normal operation and public use the day after the event.
