BECOME A VOLUNTEER

A large group of foundry artists smiling and standing close together after a successful iron pour at the Metal Museum.
As a nonprofit organization, the Metal Museum relies on the talents, dedication and energy of volunteers! We are always seeking volunteers to assist with tours, special events, the grounds and the Library, among other projects.

The Metal Museum offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to suit your interests, skill level, and schedule. These include opportunities in areas such as education, special events, metalsmithing, and more. Volunteering at the Museum gives you the chance to work alongside knowledgeable museum staff and others who have an appreciation for craft and metal arts. The majority of our volunteer opportunities do not require metalsmithing experience, just enthusiasm and the willingness to have some fun while supporting the Museum (and maybe get your hands a little dirty)! In addition to the opportunities listed below, we welcome assistance in your area of expertise. If you have a particular area of skill or interest not listed (i.e. carpentry, gardening, data entry) we are happy to create an individualized opportunity. Please call (901) 774-6380 for more information.

Volunteer groups, such as student groups, scouts, or professional organizations, are always welcome.

Please note that all Metals Studio (Smithy, Foundry or Small Metals Studio) volunteers must be at least 18 years old and sign a waiver prior to volunteering.  Volunteers under 18 are welcome to help in other Museum areas.
