Forging on the River 2017 is right around the corner (like next week) and our shop is busy in full prep mode for a week of learning, forging and hanging out with internationally acclaimed artist blacksmith Chistoph Friedrich. Christoph has traveled to Memphis from Sennewald, Switzerland to lead the Forging on the River pre-conference workshop and general conference. Christoph's work mixes traditional blacksmithing techniques with contemporary design. During the pre-conference workshop Christoph will teach cold forging and riveting techniques that he incorporates into his own work. Stay tuned next week to see in-progress shots of Christoph's time and work here at the Museum and watch the 30+ blacksmiths traveling from across the country to be here learning from this talented artist.
