Gaston Park Aluminum Art Tiles

After a year and a half of planning, designing, collaborating and pouring aluminum the Metal Museum's Foundry is just days away from installing these handmade art tiles on the exterior of the Gaston Park Community Center in Memphis, TN.

The 8x8" art tiles were designed by students at LaRose Elementary and Cummings Elementary both of which are in the Metal Museum's zip code. The schools were able to design the tiles and our Mobile Forge (M4) and foundry staff were able to meet them at school, melt down the aluminum and cast the tiles as the students watched.

Once the foundry has the frames for the three large panels they will hang them on the exterior walls of the Gaston Park Community Center. Stay tuned to see them installed!

This project would not have been possible with out the help and support of the UrbanArt Commission and Knowledge Quest.
