Smithy Classes

Classes in the Smithy offer the opportunity to learn blacksmithing techniques from our resident artists and apprentices. They are designed for students with all levels of experience, from beginner to advanced. Classes are either one or two days in duration and provide a 1-hour lunch break each day. Tools and materials are provided.

Requirements: Students must wear all-cotton clothing, long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toed leather shoes, as well as wear OSHA-approved safety goggles and work gloves.

Classes are categorized as:

• Beginner – no previous experience required
• Intermediate – some experience or working knowledge
• Advanced – prerequisite of other Metal Museum classes or equivalent
